Taught by a German seamstress, at the young age of 11, I learned and mastered my creative sewing techniques and continue to educate myself and others on the art. I then dove into the wonderful world of quilting. I love designing and making quilts, they can tell you a story and even become a family heirloom.
Quilting is a collective and handmade art that encourages self-expression through fabrics, textures, and of course, memories. Quilts make thoughtful, personalized, unique gifts for any occasion: baby, wedding, family, get well, new home, anniversary, holiday, birthday, school spirit, organizations, charities and more! From your favorite fabrics, photos and/or t-shirts, you're sure to have a one-of-a-kind, custom quilt that will last forever.
While visiting the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View, Arkansas I met a woman who was hand quilting on a Drunkard's Path Quilt. We struck up a conversation and I told her how much I enjoyed making quilts but that I had someone that machine quilted my tops. She then informed me that I was only "A Piecer" Not a quilter.
Well, that gave me the desire to be able to complete my piecing and quilting myself. After attending the Dallas Quilt Show and test driving all the longarm machines, it was easy for me to decide on my HandiQuilter. I love the Avante' 18 and have now been able to complete "Quilting" my quilts.
